Hot Topic - Nursery/PVIs to Primary Transition

Our Hot Topic (presented by STePs) will explore how we can best support children transitioning from Nursery and PVI settings into Primary School, with a focus on both micro transitions—such as daily routines, emotional regulation, and independence—and major transitions like adapting to new environments, expectations, and relationships. We will discuss practical strategies that settings can use before and during the summer holidays to help all children feel confident and prepared. The session will also address how to work collaboratively with families, offering guidance on supporting families’ worries, strengthening communication, and ensuring they feel informed and reassured throughout the process. This event aims to bring together ideas, tools, and shared experiences to create smoother, more positive transitions for every child.
